Comprising over
eight hundred islands and covering an area of ten
thousand square metres, Myeik Archipelago has been
closed to all foreigners for well over fifty years.
This area is totally untouched by modern development
with a rich history of maritime trade.

The modern day Myeik Archipelago is paradise for nature
lovers. Due to the archipelago's virtual isolation, the islands and
surrounding seas are alive with an amazing diversity of wildlife, flora and
fauna. Coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangroves flourish mainly in the Myeik
Archipelago.
Sailing in the archipelago is a truly refreshing
experience. While exploring the primary tropical rain forest that covers the
islands, snorkeling on pristine coral reefs, relaxing on board, sea
kayaking, diving to meet under water inhabitants or strolling along
untouched beaches. the sense of isolation from the modern world is
overpowering.

In this area sailing yacht operation has been permitted since 1997 and
uptil now there are 28 licenced liveaboard companies, operating tours from
October to April.
