Exploring Myanmar

Yangon - Sittwe - Mrauk U - Mandalay - Bagan - Heho - Yangon (13days/ 12nights)

Day 1

 
Arrival Yangon is main gateway to Myanmar. Meet and transfer to hotel. Yangon halfday tour including shopping at Bogyoke Aung San Market, the city's busiest and the most colourful bazaar and pay homage to Shwedagon Pagoda at sunset, one of the wonders of the world.

Day 2

 
Yangon-Sittwe by morning flight. Proceed to jetty. Sittwe - Mrauk U by chartered boat. Cruise up Kaladan river, pass sailing Ponnakyun. Six to eight hours by boat depending on tidal condition. Arrive at Mrauk U and transfer to Hotel.

Day 3

 
Morning sightseeing - Mrauk U Market , Shitthaung Pagoda, (80,000 Pagoda), Andawthein , Ordination hall with tooth relic, Yadanabon Stupa, Heap of Jewels and Gems, Htokkanthein, Lintel beams constructed ordination hall and Ngamyatna Pagoda.
Afternoon sightseeing -Yadana Manaung Zedi , Zina Manaung Zedi and famous collection of Vesali Buddhist artifacts can be seen at Bandoola Monastery.

Day 4

 
After breakfast, visit Sakyamanaung, a tall attenuated stupa, Yathe (Hermit) taung and Archaeological Museum. On going upstream by boat for 2 hours to Chin Hilltribe Village where one can observe the ladies with the tattoo on their faces. Enjoy the natural beauty with their traditional custom. Return back to Mrauk U.

Day 5

 
Mrauk U - Sittwe by chartered boat.
Afternoon sightseening – Sittwe Market, Mahakuthala Buddhist Monastery which had a fineline collection of Rakhine Buddhist art ,Kandawgyi Lake and U Yekyawthu Monastery , Sunset at View Point –Myanmar's oldest known light house. Overnight at Sittwe Hotel. (Better to Overnight at Sittwe in order to be in time for Sittwe flight the next Day).

Day 6

 
Sittwe – Yangon by Flight.
Yangon half-day sightseeing. Kaba Aye Pagoda ( World Peace Pagoda ), Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda Reclining Buddha 72 meters long, National Museum, display of exhibits including Royal Regalia & Lion Throne of last monarch in 19th Century and shopping at China Town fruit market .
Overnight at Hotel in Yangon.
 
     

Day 7

 
Yangon - Mandalay by flight. Arrive at Mandalay, the last capital of Myanmar Kings and transfer to Hotel. On the way visit Maha Gandayone Monastery of Amarapura, U Bein Teakwood Bridge & Traditional silk weaving. Excursion to Sagaing, once an ancient capital , by passing Ava Bridge. sightseeing of Sagaing hills, a retreat for Buddhist devotees with numerous Pagodas and Monasteries, Mahamuni Buddha Image the most revered Pagoda in Mandalay.

Day 8

 
After breakfast, excursion to Mingun, 12 Km from Mandalay and a very pleasant boat trip with plenty to see along the Ayeyarwaddy river .Tour Highlights: Mingun Bell, the world's largest ringing bell weighing 90 tons , Myattheintan Pagoda and Pahtodawgyi, an enormous unfinished temple. After sightseeing, back to Mandalay. Visit Shwenandaw monastery, Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world's biggest book, Myanansankyaw Golden Palace and sunset at Mandalay hill, 230 meters in elevation, a magnificent view of the city and surrounding countryside.

Day 9

 
Mandalay-Nyaung Oo by Shwe Keinayee Boat (ETD 6:00/ETA 16:30) depends on the tide of the river. Arrive at Nyaung Oo Jetty in the evening and transfer to Hotel.

Day 10

 
Morning sightseeing - Nyaung Oo Market, Shwezigon Pagoda, Proto type of later Myanmar stupa, Wetkyi-In Gubyaukgyi Temple with fine mural painting of Jataka scenes and Htilominlo Temple, well-known for its plaster carvings.
Afternoon sightseeing – Ananda Temple, famous for its unique architecture, Dhamayangyi Temple, Bagan's most massive temple with the finest brick work, Archaeological Museum, Manuha Temple, Nanpaya, visit Lacquerware Industry and sunset at Bupaya Pagoda, a Pyu style pagoda on the bank of Majestic Ayeyarwaddy river.

Day 11

 
Bagan – Heho by flight Proceed to inlay Lake by boat , well - known for its scenic beauty and its unique leg rower. Tour highlights include Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, Ngaphae Chaung typical Shan Monastery; wonderful floating gardens; native method of fishing; traditional weaving villages and village life in the lake.
Overnight at Hotel in inlay Lake.
 
     

Day 12

 
Breakfast at Hotel.
Transfer to Airport. Heho – Yangon by flight.
Arrival Yangon and transfer to Hotel. Afternoon sightseeing Kaba Aye Pagoda, World Peace Pagoda, Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha, 72 meters long, National Museum, display of exhibits including Royal Regalia & Lion Throne of last monarch in 19th Century and shopping at China Town fruit market.
